Multi-Vehicle Crash Occurs on 5 Freeway near South Bay Drive-In Theatre and Swap Meet in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 9, 2022) – Police confirmed that authorities temporarily closed all lanes on northbound 5 Freeway following a multi-vehicle crash on August 7.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred near the South Bay Drive-In Theatre and Swap Meet around 6:30 PM.
 
Based on reports, a motorist made a call and requested for assistance for a vehicle rescue on the freeway. Subsequently, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s log showed that three vehicles collided in the lanes after the call.
 
For a short time following the crash, crews closed all lanes of traffic on the northbound side of the highway as firefighters, paramedics and police worked to clean up the area and assist those involved.
