Early Morning DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on 5 Freeway in San Ysidro Ends in Fatality

 
SAN YSIDRO, CA (August 9, 2022) – A man was killed in a DUI hit-and-run crash on 5 Freeway in San Ysidro early Sunday morning, August 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:13 a.m. at Camino De La Plaza. According to the California Highway Patrol, the vehicles involved in the crash included a Dodge Durango and a motorcycle.
 
When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the roadway, possibly ejected during the crash. They also located four vehicles stopped at the scene.
 
The man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
Officers said one of the involved vehicles did not stop after the crash and the driver was allegedly driving under the influence.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
