Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on East Vernon Avenue near Towne Avenue in South Los Angeles

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (July 28, 2022) – A man was found dead on East Vernon Avenue following a suspected hit-and-run collision, early Thursday morning.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened on July 28, at about 1:30 a.m. A westbound vehicle reportedly hit a pedestrian who was lying in the street near the intersection of East Vernon Avenue and Towne Avenue.
 
A short time later, a second vehicle also hit the downed victim.
 
As per reports, the driver of the first vehicle did not stop to render aid. However, the second driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the victim, described as a man in his 40s, dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the identity of the victim.
 
The coroner’s office later confirmed that the victim had also been shot at least once.
 
Los Angeles police continue to investigate the fatal incident.
