Motorcyclist Dies after Hit by Suspected DUI Driver in Moreno Valley

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (July 21, 2022) – 33-year-old Mikela Lang of Moreno Valley was killed in a DUI crash in Moreno Valley on Tuesday, July 19.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:40 p.m. on Filaree Avenue at Perris Avenue. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 23-year-old Byron Alexa Cifuentes Saucedo was driving his 2010 Nissan Altima eastbound on Filaree Avenue.
 
When the traffic signal at the intersection of Filaree Avenue and Perris Avenue turned red, he failed to stop for the red light and entered the intersection just as Lang drove through on her 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 650 motorcycle.
 
The motorcycle collided with the Nissan’s driver side, throwing Lang onto the roadway.
 
Saucedo exited from his sedan and attempted to run away but witnesses stopped him and physically restrained him until patrol deputies arrived.
 
Responding paramedics pronounced Lang dead at the scene.
 
Police arrested Saucedo on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter with intoxication and hit-and-run.
 
Further investigation is underway.
