Betty Cardoza Dies, Carlene Valdez Involved in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 108 near Mono Way

 
SONORA, CA (July 1, 2022) — Betty Marie Cardoza died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 108 near Mono Way Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident happened around 7:20 a.m. Upon responding to the scene of the crash, CHP officers and paramedics found 57-year-old Cardoza with critical injuries after she had just crashed her 2020 Harley-Davidson Glide.
 
Subsequently, paramedics brought her to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where she succumbed to her injuries.
 
At the scene, investigators learned that Cardoza tried to pass up a semi-truck on the left side when she struck the right rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by 70-year-old Carlene Valdez who was heading westbound.
 
At this time, officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs have played a factor in the accident. However, if anyone has seen this crash, please call the CHP.
