Fernando Alanis-Jimenez Killed, Thomas Yearnshaw Hospitalized in Pedestrian Crash on Mormon Emigrant Trail near Highway 88

 
PLACERVILLE, CA (July 1, 2022) — Fernando Alanis-Jimenez died in a pedestrian accident on Mormon Emigrant Trail near Highway 88.
 
According to Placerville Area California Highway Patrol officers, the fatal accident happened before 4:56 p.m. on June 18. For unknown reasons, 76-year-old Thomas Yearnshaw allowed his 2006 Toyota 4Runner to cross over the double yellow lines.
 
As a result, his SUV struck a pickup truck parked on the north shoulder and 35-year-old Alanis-Jimenez — a passenger in the car who had just exited.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded and brought Yearnshaw to Marshall Hospital with minor injuries. Alanis-Jimenez passed away from his serious injuries.
 
At this time, investigators plan to look at the factors that contributed to the accident including weather conditions. If anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
