Person Dies in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara

 
SANTA BARBARA, CA (June 21, 2022) — One person died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 101 near La Cumbre Road on Monday morning.
 
According to officer Jon Gutierrez, the hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened around 6:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver heading northbound on the highway struck a man in the right lane and left the scene.
 
Soon after, paramedics brought the seriously injured man to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed if DUI played a factor. However, if anyone has seen this crash or the driver who was reportedly operating a large SUV at the time, please call the Santa Barbara area CHP office.
