Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident on West Main Street and Crows Landing Road
CROWS LANDING, CA (June 2, 2022) — A 38-year-old man died following a pedestrian crash on West Main Street on Wednesday, June 1.
According to California Highway Patrol, just before 2:00 a.m. the man was in the eastbound lane of West Main Street, west of Crows Landing Road. Then a Chrysler PT Cruiser struck him.
Officers said the area was dark and the driver of the PT Cruiser, 41-year-old Maiyra Rodriguez of Winton, said she did not see the man on the road until it was too late. After the crash, she immediately stopped and dialed 911.
A Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene. Then he performed CPR on the pedestrian, who had massive head trauma and did not have a pulse. CHP officers then arrived next and took over CPR until paramedics got to the scene. However, the man ultimately died.
Officials have not yet released his identity pending family notification.
The crash is still under investigation. Officers said they are still determining whether the pedestrian tried to cross the street or if he was walking or standing in the traffic lane.
