HEMET, CA (April 8, 2022) — A woman died following a hit-and-run accident on Highway 74 at about 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 7.

The California Highway Patrol said the incident took place on Highway 74 just west of Cortrite Avenue, in an area known as Green Acres.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the 57-year-old woman was walking on the highway. After that, a dark-colored Honda CR-V hit her.

The motorist did not stop or checked on the victim and then fled the area.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Lassig said that the Honda CR-V was probably manufactured between 1997 and 2001. There were no reports whether the vehicle had damage because of the impact.

Authorities hope witnesses can help them identify the involved driver. Anyone with information can call the CHP Temecula office at 951-506-2000.
