Ronald Rodarte Arrested in DUI Accident on Highway 99 [Chico, CA]

Randall Pockrus and Janica Clyde Sustain Injuries in Chico Crash, Police Arrest Ronald Rodarte for DUI

 
CHICO, CA (April 1, 2022) – Police arrested Ronald Rodarte for DUI after a traffic accident on Highway 99 in Chico on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on March 30 near Esplanade. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 39-year-old suspect was driving a Hyundai Elantra and came to a stop at the stop sign on northbound Esplanade at Highway 99.
 
At the same time, 63-year-old Randall Pockrus was driving a Ford Taurus south on Highway 99 at 60 mph and was approaching Esplanade.
 
Rodarte did not yield to the right-of-way to Pockrus and pulled out to make a left turn directly in front of Pockrus, who did not attempt to avoid the crash.
 
Pockrus’ vehicle broadsided Rodarte’s vehicle, which ended up in a southeastern direction where it hit a chain-link fence. The Taurus then spun around and ended in the intersection.
 
As a result of the crash, Pockrus suffered moderate injuries. His passenger, 67-year-old Janica Clyde, had minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Rodarte sustained major injuries. Police determined that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
