Catherine Treulich Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 1 [San Mateo County, CA]

Afternoon Head-On Crash on Highway 1 in San Mateo County Kills 76-Year-Old Woman

 
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (March 19, 2022) – Catherine Lee Treulich was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 1 in San Mateo County on Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 1:09 p.m. on March 14 just south of Capistrano Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Treulich was driving her 2010 Ford Flex northbound at 50 to 60 mph when she entered the opposing lane and crashed head-on into a 2016 Peterbilt truck.
 
As a result, Treulich and her 17-year-old passenger suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Stanford Health Care, where Treulich died Tuesday.
 
The passenger’s condition was not immediately available.
 
Treulich was a 76-year-old Half Moon Bay resident, according to officials.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the cement truck was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with minor injuries.
 
Officials said it does not appear alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. They urged witnesses to contact the CHP Redwood City area office at 650-779-2700
