Missing Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Car near Ashlan Avenue in Central Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (February 8, 2022) – A woman died in a hit-and-run crash near Ashlan Avenue in a busy central Fresno, early Monday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:20 a.m. on February 7 just between Maroa Avenue and College Avenue. According to the Fresno Police Department, the 28-year-old woman went missing near Ashlan and Maroa avenues.
 
Officers went out to the area to start searching for the woman. That was where they found debris from the crash along Ashlan Avenue between College and Maroa avenues. They also found the woman nearby. They performed CPR, but the woman died at the scene.
 
The woman’s identity has not yet been released. Police believe she was a victim of a hit-and-run crash.
 
Authorities are still trying to find nearby surveillance footage that may help them identify the suspect’s vehicle. They believe the driver was speeding and their car had substantial damage.
 
Further investigation is underway.
