Ana Hernandez, Matthew Zink Die in Chatsworth Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident

 
CHATSWORTH, CA (January 13, 2022) — A man and a woman died in a hit-and-run bicycle accident at Plummer Street and Lurline Avenue on Tuesday, January 4.
 
The Los Angeles County DA’s Office identified the victims as 58-year-old Matthew Zink and 37-year-old Ana Hernandez.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Hernandez and Zink were riding bicycles westbound on Plummer Street around 7:10 p.m. when they were struck by a 2006 red Toyota Tacoma at 9500 block of Lurline Avenue.
 
Upon arrival, the Los Angeles Police Department spotted two bicyclists but no car at the scene, leading officers to believe it was a hit-and-run crash.
 
Both bicyclists Hernandez and Zink died at the scene.
 
A GoFundMe has been set up for the surviving Zink family.
 
Police arrested 58-year-old Nelson Rodriguez of Chatsworth in connection with the deaths of Zink and Hernandez. He allegedly drove away from the area in the Toyota Tacoma after hitting the victims and became involved in another crash.
 
Rodriguez is being held on $4 million bond.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the accident require further investigation.
