Arnulfo Rodriguez Dies after Colliding with Vehicle on California Avenue in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 13, 2022) – A man was killed in a bicycle accident near the intersection of California Avenue and S Street in Bakersfield on Tuesday, January 4.
The Kern County coroner’s office identified the 64-year-old Arnulfo Lopez Rodriguez of Bakersfield.
The accident happened around 12:28 p.m. at California Avenue and R Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Rodriguez was riding his bicycle when he collided with a vehicle in unclear circumstances.
When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist suffering from major injuries. Paramedics gave life-saving treatment, but Rodriguez died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the involved driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
BPD said neither alcohol or drugs appear to be factors in the crash. However, the investigation is ongoing. As a result, police asked anyone with information to call them at 661-327-7111.
