Man Dies in Wrong-Way Accident on Highway 101

 
VENTURA, CA (December 21, 2021) — A man died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 101 near California Street on Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly multi-car crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 29-year-old Santa Barbara man was driving a 2007 Honda Accord southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway and struck a northbound 2008 Nissan 350Z. Subsequently, a northbound driver in a 2017 GMC Sierra struck the Nissan at unknown speeds.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and brought the wrong-way driver to Ventura County Medical Center. Another team brought an 18-year-old Nissan passenger from Ojai to Los Robles Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, while medics confirmed his 18-year-old driver deceased at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old GMC driver from Oakview suffered minor injuries and his 19-year-old passenger suffered moderate injuries.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident or the victim’s name. However, an ongoing investigation continues.
