Pilot Dies after Single-Engine Plane Crashes in Bermuda Dunes

 
BERMUDA DUNES, CA (December 13, 2021) – James Wallace was killed in a plane crash in the unincorporated community of Bermuda Dunes on Saturday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened a little after 12:30 p.m. on December 11, in the 78000 block of Discovery Bay Drive, just east of Palm Desert. According to the Riverside County Fire Department, Wallace was the pilot of a single-engine Moul Willis RV-3. The small plane had crashed and landed shortly after taking off from Bermuda Airport.
 
First responders found Wallace trapped inside the wreckage with serious injuries. After freeing him, they rushed him to hospital.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Wallace was pronounced dead. He was an 83-year-old Palm Desert resident.
 
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the crash.
