Coroner Identifies Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Semi Truck on 5 Freeway

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 23, 2021)William Alan Summers was killed in a motorcycle accident on 5 Freeway in Bakersfield, Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:50 a.m. on November 19 near Highway 166. According to the California Highway Patrol, Summers was riding his motorcycle from Highway 166. For unknown reasons, he crashed into a semi-tractor trailer while he was merging onto 5 Freeway.
 
The impact caused Summers fatal injuries and he died at the scene. Summers was a 73-year-old Highland resident, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
 
At this time, it is unclear if the driver of the semi has stayed after the crash.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
