Two Teens Hurt after Pedestrian Accident on South Harold Street and East Oak Street

FORT BRAGG, CA (November 23, 2021) — Two juveniles suffered injuries after a pedestrian accident on South Harold Street on Tuesday, November 16.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a truck hit the teens at 8:13 a.m. near the intersection of South Harold Street and East Oak Street.

Fort Bragg Police Department Captain Thomas O’Neal said the incident happened when a driver was turning at the intersection of Oak Street and Harold Street. The vehicle struck two 11-year-old juveniles who were crossing the crosswalk while walking towards school.

One of the juveniles had minor injuries to their hand and elbow. The other suffered moderate injuries to his leg and medics rushed him to the hospital.

The driver cooperated with the investigation and said his vision was impaired by the sun at the time of the incident.

Officials do not suspect the driver is under the influence. However, they will likely charge him with an infraction for driving at a high rate of speed.
