Rider David Verweyst Jr. Dies in Long Beach Motorcycle Accident on 405 Freeway

 
LONG BEACH, CA (November 17, 2021) — A rider died in a motorcycle crash on the 405 Freeway near Cherry Avenue on Thursday, October 28.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle collision occurred around 4:40 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle on the southbound freeway and was pinned underneath the car.
 
41-year-old David Verweyst Jr., whose city of residence was unknown, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
 
Shortly after, officials arrived and closed the No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes before reopening them around 7:00 a.m.
 
At this time, officers have no information as to what led to the accident or the condition of the driver involved. However, those with information should contact CHP.
