Patrol Vehicle Hits Deputy in Accident on Watt Avenue in North Highlands

 
NORTH HIGHLANDS, CA (November 11, 2021) – A deputy suffered injuries after being struck by a patrol vehicle in an accident on Watt Avenue on November 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Elkhorn Boulevard around 3:30 PM.
 
Based on an initial report, two deputies were traveling when a man a hard object at their patrol vehicle. Then, the deputies went out to confront the suspect and a physical altercation began. As the suspect and the deputies fought on the ground, the patrol vehicle began slowly rolling back towards them. Subsequently, it hit the suspect and one of the deputies.
 
As a result, both received superficial abrasions. Emergency crews transported them to a hospital for evaluation.
 
In the end, officers booked the suspect into the Sacramento County Main Jail. At this point, the CHP is still investigating the vehicle collision.
