MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 27, 2021) — Raul Jaime faces charges in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Atwater Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 2:00 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a 24-year-old driver ran over a man who had already been hit on the highway.
 
Soon after, paramedics and officers arrived to pronounce the 52-year-old victim dead at the scene.
 
Following the investigation, officers found a broken license plate to a 2018 Toyota Camry registered in Livingston.
 
Soon after, officers arrested 21-year-old Jaime on hit-and-run charges.
 
At this time, the events that took place in the initial crash require additional investigation. However, police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
