Robert Carbajal Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Crash on 680 Freeway near South Jackson Avenue

 
SAN JOSE, CA (October 21, 2021) — A South Bay man identified as Robert Carbajal was hurt after a hit-and-run on 680 Freeway on Friday, October 15.
 
Carbajal’s wife said the incident started with a simple fender bender around 10:30 p.m.
 
According to police, a Latin woman between 20 and 30 years old, about five feet tall drove a silver or tan Escalade. She struck the driver’s side of Carbajal’s car and fled.
 
He caught up with her at Summer Court, a dead-end residential street off 680 Freeway near South Jackson Avenue.
 
She declined to give insurance information then called someone. Minutes later, two men arrived in a dark Infiniti SUV driven by another woman and beat up Carbajal.
 
Reports describe the two as Latino who are between 20 and 30 years old.
 
Carbajal’s family said he did not sustain injuries from the hit-and-run but from being beaten up afterward. They said he has fractures to his head and eye socket and swelling in the brain.
 
Reports said the initial driver was in a silver or tan shiny Escalade with license plate number 8LET727.
