According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened a mile north of Palmer Road around 6:20 AM.
 
Based on reports, a Cal Portland utility truck hit the back of a box truck belonging to a private contractor hauling mail. At this point, officers have not yet released the details that led to the crash.
 
As a result, one motorist required heavy extrication. Santa Barbara County Fire Department personnel transported the victim to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries.
