Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Golden State Freeway in Sun Valley

 
SUN VALLEY, CA (August 21, 2021) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley Friday evening.
 
The accident happened around 7:13 p.m. on August 20, near the connector of southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was standing on the freeway when a vehicle struck her.
 
As a result, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of her next of kin.
 
The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, it is still unknown why the woman was standing on the freeway. It is also unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
 
The crash closed the two right lanes of the southbound Golden State Freeway connector to southbound Hollywood Freeway for an unknown duration.
 
An investigation is underway.
