UPDATE: Jorge Mira, Manuel Landaverde Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 180 [Fresno County, CA]

Drivers Manuel Landaverde and Jorge Mira Dead in Fresno County Head-On Crash

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 18, 2021) — Two drivers died in Monday’s head-on accident on Highway 180 near James Road.
 
According to police officers, the fatal incident happened around 6:30 p.m. 33-year-old Jorge Mira, was driving a Ford Explorer west on Highway 180 and drifted off the road and into the eastbound lane. After that, it collided with a Honda Odyssey driven by a 21-year-old Manuel Landaverde from Kerman.
 
Subsequently, a 60-year-old man driving a Dodge pickup tried to avoid the accident, but overturned his truck during the process.
 
CHP says both drivers of the Ford and Honda – identified as Mira and Landaverde, respectively – died at the scene.
 
The driver of the Dodge truck received moderate injuries and taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
 
Three people in the Honda, including a 24-year-old, 16-year-old and an infant, were brought to Community Regional Medical Center. Their conditions are said to be moderate to severe.
 
Police suspect that the Ford driver might have been impaired at the time. However, an investigation is underway.
