Head-On Accident on Highway 299 in Ingot Injures 6 Including 4 Children

 
INGOT, CA (July 29, 2021) – Six people sustained injuries in a head-on accident on Highway 299 in the unincorporated Shasta County Tuesday morning.
 
The accident happened around 10:53 a.m. on July 27, near mile marker 43. According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, a blue SUV carrying five people and an older model light-colored pickup truck collided head-on for unknown reasons.
 
When officers arrived, they located the vehicles with heavy damage. A woman in her 60s who was driving the SUV suffered critical injuries and was trapped inside the car. Four juveniles in the SUV and the driver of the pickup were also injured.
 
Responding paramedics transported all six patients to hospitals.

An 11-year-old had pelvic and lower back pain, an 8-year-old boy had left femur fracture and other traumatic injuries, a 7-year-old with minor injuries with abrasions, and a 5-year-old girl with a scalp laceration and other minor injuries.

After the crash, crews closed the highway in both directions while they cleared the wreckage.

Further investigation is underway.
