Chain-Reaction Crash in Redding Hurts Five People, Angelica Gilchrist Arrested

REDDING, CA (July 29, 2021) – Police arrested Angelica Renee Gilchrist after causing a chain-reaction crash in Redding Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on July 25, at South Bonnyview Road and East Bonnyview Road. According to the Redding Police Department, the 26-year-old Anderson woman was driving a white Ford Mustang when she failed to notice the three cars in front of her stopped at the red light. She slammed into a Ford Fusion which then collided into a Ford Edge, which also crashed into a Ford F-150.

After the collision, Gilchrist and her passenger fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the Fusion suffered major injuries from the crash. Both drivers of the Edge and the Ford pickup complained of pain and were only treated at the scene.

Police later found Gilchrist and her passenger in a nearby field, both sustained moderate injuries. After Gilchrist received treatment at the hospital, police arrested her for felony hit-and-run and booked her into the Shasta County Jail.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash. Police asked anyone with further information about the incident to contact the Redding Police Department at (530) 225-4200.
