20-Year-Old Driver Dies after Street Racing Leads to Fiery Crash into Home in Hancock Park

HANCOCK PARK, CA (June 13, 2021)Danny Lazarnejan was killed in a fiery street racing crash in Hancock Park of Los Angeles late Thursday evening.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on June 10, in the 200 block of South Rimpau Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two cars were traveling east on 3rd Street, possibly racing, when one of them, a Mercedes-Benz, lost control.

The Mercedes hit a curb before crashing into a tree and a garage, and burst into flames. A nearby brush and the garage also caught fire.

Firefighters responded and found two vehicles at the scene. They quickly attacked the fire, keeping the flames contained to the home’s garage. It took around 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Lazarnejan, a 20-year-old man, died at the scene. He was the driver of the Mercedes.

The family inside the home was not hurt. A little girl had stepped out of her bedroom, which is near the garage, prior to the collision.

The condition of the other driver was unknown.

Officials said the home was yellow-tagged, but the homeowners were allowed to go back inside.

An investigation is ongoing.
