KERN COUNTY, CA (June 13, 2021) – Police confirmed that two people died in a head-on accident on 5 Freeway on June 5.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Lerdo Highway shortly after 2:00 AM.
 
Based on a report, a vehicle drove in the wrong way for unknown reasons. Subsequently, it collided head-on into another car that was running on the opposite lane.
 
As a result, the drivers of both vehicles died in the incident. Officials did not yet release their identities pending kin notification.
 
Officers said both drivers were wearing seat belts. The cars did not have any passengers.
 
At this point, this head-on accident on 5 Freeway is still under investigation.
