Passenger Devin McCune Dies after Vehicle Overturns in Ditch in Nevada City, DUI Suspected

 
NEVADA CITY, CA (April 29, 2021) – Devin McCune died in a DUI crash Sunday evening in Nevada City.
 
The crash happened around 9:00 p.m. at Banner Lava Cap Road and Forest View Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 29-year-old Livermore victim was a passenger in a 1997 Ford Explorer. The SUV was traveling on the roadway when it overturned into an irrigation ditch after it lost control.
 
As a result, McCune suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver, 29-year-old Phillip Thomas Krulisky of Grass Valley, was treated at the scene after complaining of bodily pain stemming from some unspecified injuries.
 
The passenger side of the Ford sustained the most damage, as the right front portion of the car slammed directly into a tree.
 
Police later arrested Krulisky on felony charges of manslaughter and driving under the influence. They booked him into the Nevada County Jail.
 
Krulisky remained in custody Monday on a bond of $100,000.
