Two-Vehicle Accident on 880 Freeway in Fremont Kills 1 Passenger and Seriously Injures Both Drivers

 
FREMONT, CA (April 10, 2021) – A passenger was killed in a two-vehicle accident on 880 Freeway in Fremont early Friday morning, April 9.
 
The accident happened around 2:32 a.m. on the off-ramp of the freeway at Thornton Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, one of the vehicles was traveling westbound on Thornton Avenue and the second vehicle was heading northbound on the 880 Freeway off-ramp.
 
The vehicle exiting the freeway had a green light to enter the intersection. As the vehicles approached the intersection, the westbound vehicle struck the vehicle exiting the off-ramp.
 
As a result, the passenger in one of the vehicles suffered fatal injuries died at the hospital.
 
Meanwhile, both drivers sustained major injuries and were hospitalized in unknown conditions.
 
The driver of the westbound vehicle is a Fremont resident, while and the driver of the other vehicle is a resident of Newark.
 
Alcohol may have been a factor in the collision. Police asked anyone with further information to contact Fremont police Traffic Investigator Michael Ramsey at 510-790-6776.
