Authorities Identity Bicyclist Russell Hofeling Killed in Crash in Martinez

MARTINEZ, CA (April 11, 2021) – Authorities identified the bicyclist who was struck and killed by vehicle Thursday morning in Martinez.

He was 65-year-old Russell Hofeling of Martinez, according to the coroner’s office.

Police said the accident happened around 8:00 a.m. on April 8 in the 1800 block of Arnold Drive. Hofeling was riding on his bicycle when he collided with a vehicle for unknown reasons. As a result, he suffered major injuries.

Paramedics took Hofeling to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he later died.

The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
