One Person Dead in Indio Solo-Car Accident on 10 Freeway

 
INDIO, CA (April 2, 2021) — One person died in a solo-car accident on the 10 Freeway near the Cactus City Rest Area Wednesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 4:15 a.m. For unknown reasons, a vehicle crashed 16 miles east of Indio. As a result of the impact, one person died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle, while the other one became trapped in the twisted metal.
 
Soon after, firefighters arrived and freed the victim in the car before taking the patient to a hospital with moderate injuries. Meanwhile, a crew tended to the 25 feet of guardrail that purportedly spewed across the freeway.
 
At this time, authorities have no information on the ultimate cause of the accident. However, if anyone has additional insight into this crash, please contact the CHP.
