Pedestrian Dies in Accident on Chesterfield Drive in Cardiff
CARDIFF, CA (February 16, 2021) – One person died in a train and pedestrian accident on Chesterfield Drive on February 15.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of San Elijo Avenue.
Based on a report, the pedestrian was hit by the train. However, the sheriff’s department did not yet release the details that led to the accident.
As a result, the Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the deceased’s name pending kin notification.
Consequently, trains were at a stand-still as deputies responded to the scene. In addition, crews closed Chesterfield between San Elijo and South Coast Highway 101.
At this point, the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit investigates this pedestrian accident on Chesterfield Drive. In addition, they ask anyone with information to call the sheriff department’s non-emergency line at 858-565-5200.
