Early Morning Pedestrian Accident on Long Beach Boulevard Turns Deadly
LONG BEACH, CA (February 15, 2021) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Long Beach Boulevard early Monday morning.
The pedestrian accident happened around 5:35 a.m., between Pepper Drive and 31st Street.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the male pedestrian was standing in the roadway when a 2004 Nissan 350z being driven by a 28-year-old man hit him. The impact threw the victim into the southbound lanes. Moments later, a 28-year-old woman driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra struck him a second time.
Long Beach firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free the pedestrian who was trapped under one of the vehicles. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office is working to identify the victim, whose name will be released after his family members are notified.
Meanwhile, both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Police do not suspect alcohol, drugs and distracted driving as factors in this pedestrian accident. Further investigation is underway.
