Fatal Car Accident on Silverado Trail near Yountville Cross Road

 
NAPA COUNTY, CA (February 2, 2021) – A mother was killed in a car accident Thursday, January 21 in Napa County.
 
The accident happened around 4:03 p.m. on Silverado Trail, just south of Yountville Cross Road near Baldacci Vineyards Road.
 
According to the CHP, a 15-year-old Lower Lake girl with a learner’s permit was driving a 2010 Honda southbound on Silverado Trail at 60 mph. For unknown reasons, she allowed the car to drift onto the southbound shoulder.
 
As a result, the Honda collided with a tree that was approximately 13 feet west of the roadway.
 
The girls mother, 40-year-old Danita Shook of Lower Lake, was riding in the front passenger seat. She suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The driver and her 13-year-old brother, who was riding in the back seat, both sustained minor injuries and were taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
 
This fatal crash remains under investigation.
