One Killed, Aurelio Martinez Hurt in Gilroy Car Accident
GILROY, CA (February 9, 2021) — A head-on accident on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane left one man dead and another injured early Saturday January 23 in Gilroy.
A 1990 Honda Accord, driven by 57-year-old man from Gilroy, traveled from the eastbound lane across double solid yellow lines. As a result, he crossed into the westbound lane, causing a head-on collision with a 2008 Honda Accord.
Officials responded to the scene. However, Doe sustained fatal injuries in the accident.
Police identified the driver as 64-year-old Aurelio Martinez of Gustine, who was traveling west on Highway 152. He was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. However, authorities did not provide an update on his condition at this time.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were factors in this collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
