Driver Dies in Head-On Buttonwillow Accident on West Lerdo Highway

 
BUTTONWILLOW, CA (February 8, 2021) — A 26-year-old man died Wednesday, January 20 in a head-on accident on West Lerdo Highway near Main Drain Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal head-on collision happened after 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
 
For unknown reasons, a westbound Honda began weaving in and out of the lanes. At some point, the driver entered the eastbound lanes and crashed head-on with a Kia SUV.
 
As a result, the Honda driver perished in the head-on crash. Meanwhile, the 44-year-old driver of the Kia suffered moderate injuries and received care at Kern Medical shortly thereafter.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident but believe the Honda driver might have had suffered a medical emergency.
