Nereida Lopez and Analleli Romero Seriously Injured in Head-On Accident on Copus Road [Taft, CA]

Head-On Crash in Taft Leaves Two Women Badly Injured

 
TAFT, CA (April 21, 2024) – Nereida Lopez and Analleli Romero were seriously injured in a head-on accident in Taft early Wednesday morning on April 17.
 
The accident happened on Copus Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound Chevrolet Silverado was passing other westbound traffic at approximately 80 miles per hour when it collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota.
 
Lopez, 31, and Romero, 20, were passengers of the Toyota. Both suffered major injuries. Both were Taft residents.
 
The driver of the Toyota, 47-year-old Lelis Franco of Maricopa, suffered moderate injuries.
 
Another passenger of the Toyota, 16-year-old Fredy Romero of Maricopa, only sustained minor injuries.
 
The driver of the Chevrolet, 22-year-old Nidia Alvara, also sustained minor injuries.
 
The CHP said all parties were using their safety restraints. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation.
