1 Hurt, Suspect Leaves Police Pursuit Accident on 5 Freeway in Shasta County

 
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (April 30, 2024) — One person suffered a minor injury in a police chase crash on the 5 Freeway near Sims Lookout Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol Mount Shasta area, the chase happened around 12:57 p.m. on April 25. Upon seeing a vehicle failing to yield, Anderson Police initiated a pursuit. Subsequently, the chase went onto the northbound 5 Freeway until the CHP Redding office took over.
 
However, the car crashed near Sims Lookout Road, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
 
Following the incident, paramedics took a passenger in the vehicle to a hospital in Redding for precautionary reasons. The suspect remains unaccounted for and likely fled toward the Sacramento River in the Sims area.
