23-Year-Old Pedestrian Serious Injuries after Struck by SUV on Otay Mesa Road

 
OTAY MESA, CA (October 12, 2023) – A 23-year-old woman was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Otay Mesa Road Tuesday on October 10.
 
The accident happened just after midnight at the intersection with Heritage Road. According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman was walking southbound on the west side of Otay Mesa Road when she was struck by a 2016 Jeep Compass, driven by a 61-year-old woman.
 
There were no street signs or a crosswalk on the west side of the intersection, officers said.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a hospital with a pelvic fracture, a laceration to the head, and abrasions to the left elbow and abdominal area.
 
The SUV driver, a 61-year-old woman, suffered no injuries.
 
Police said DUI was not a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.
