Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on Saticoy Street in Van Nuys Kills 1 and Injures 4

 
VAN NUYS, CA (July 18, 2023) – A 21-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way head-on crash at Saticoy Street and Sepulveda Boulevard early Sunday morning.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:18 a.m. on July 16. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a white Ford Mustang was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes on Saticoy. While traveling the wrong way, it crashed head-on into a gray Audi.
 
The impact caused one of the cars to hit a power pole.
 
The woman who was a front-seat passenger of the Mustang suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Four other people, an 11-year-old girl, a 30-year-old female and two 21-year-old men, sustained severe injuries.
 
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was detained on suspicion of DUI, the LAPD said.

Drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
