Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 11, 2021) — A woman died in a pedestrian crash on the 5 Freeway near Pershing Drive Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened near Balboa Park around 7:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver struck the woman who authorities believe was walking along the 5 Freeway south of the Pershing Drive exit.
 
Soon after, First Responders arrived and transported the victim to a hospital where she died from her injuries. The coroner has not released her identity at this time. Meanwhile, investigators interviewed the driver of the silver Ford SUV for details on possible factors.
 
At this time, detectives do not believe alcohol played a factor in this pedestrian crash. However, anyone with more information should contact the CHP.
