65-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Struck by SUV near Oxnard Boulevard

 
OXNARD, CA (May 14, 2023) – A 65-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident near Oxnard Boulevard and Citrus Grove Lane in Oxnard on Thursday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:37 p.m. on May 11. According to the Oxnard Police Department, a 26-year-old Oxnard man was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition southbound on Oxnard Boulevard when he struck the woman who was walking near the intersection. The crossing is in a commercial area north of Gonzales Road.
 
The impact caused the woman significant injuries. Paramedics rushed her to Ventura County Medical Center, where she later died.
 
Authorities withheld the woman’s identity at this time.
 
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
