Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash on Highway 395

 
DOYLE, CA (July 6, 2022) — A 19-year-old Doyle woman died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 395 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 65-year-old Terrance Huff, of Zephyr Cove, Nevada, drove a 2006 Winnebago southbound on Highway 395. He drove at around 60 mph south of the Doyle overhead.
 
At the same time, a female pedestrian walked south along the centerline of the highway.
 
The CHP report said that due to the curve of the road and limited visibility, at first, Huff thought the pedestrian was on the opposite shoulder. As his vehicle moved closer, it became evident that the pedestrian was actually standing on the centerline of the highway.
 
Huff stepped on his brakes and tried to avoid the woman. However, she suddenly ran into the path of the Winnebago, hitting the right front.
 
The woman, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene. Huff and his passenger did not sustain any injuries.
