34-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Van on 805 Freeway in Otay Mesa

 
OTAY MESA, CA (October 25, 2022) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on 805 Freeway in Otay Mesa on Sunday evening, October 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:50 p.m. along the northbound freeway, just south of Palm Avenue and north of Del Sol Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female pedestrian was walking on the right shoulder when a Toyota van struck her.
 
As a result, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Authorities only identified the victim as a 34-year-old Torrance resident.
 
The driver of the van, a 51-year-old Norco man, stopped and cooperated with officers. He is not suspected of being under the influence at time of the crash.
 
Further investigation is underway.
