Woman Killed, Michael Fredrickson Injured in Head-On Accident on Highway 12 [Wallace, CA]

Head-On Accident on Highway 12 in Wallace Kills 1 Driver and Injures Another

 
WALLACE, CA (December 13, 2021) – A woman died in a head-on accident on Highway 12 in the Wallace area of Calaveras County on Thursday morning.
 
The accident happened a little before 11:00 a.m. on December 9 just east of Wards Avenue and south of Camache Reservoir. The woman was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon eastbound when she crossed the double-yellow lines for unknown reasons. She then went directly into the path of 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 52-year-old Michael Fredrickson of Farmington.
 
The two vehicles collided head-on, pushing both off the roadway onto opposite shoulders.
 
As a result of the collision, the woman suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, Fredrickson had moderate injuries.
 
Authorities said it was raining when the collision happened, but it is unclear if the wet roads played a role. Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected factors.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
