Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on 15 Freeway in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 27, 2021) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a hit-and-run crash on northbound 15 Freeway on September 23.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Ted Williams Parkway shortly before 2:00 AM.
Based on an initial report, the victim was driving her Toyota sedan when she collided with a Ford pickup truck. Subsequently, the truck became disabled within the traffic lanes. At that time, a Kia Sedan struck it. Afterward, the driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota died in the incident. Officials only identified her as a 55-year-old woman. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries and required transport to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.
Immediately, the San Diego Police Department made an extensive search and arrested the 30-year-old male driver of the Ford on hit-and-run charges.
