Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 4, 2021) – A woman died in a hit-and-run accident on South Union Avenue south of Belle Terrace.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 6:42 p.m. Sunday, February 28.
 
Officers determined that the woman was walking in an unknown direction on southbound Union Avenue in the number two lane, when an unknown vehicle, heading southbound on Union Avenue hit her. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid, leaving the woman with major injuries.
 
First responders rushed the victim to Kern Medical Center, where she later died.
 
Authorities did not release the victim’s identity pending notification of her family members.
 
Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
