Woman Killed in Fiery Accident on Highway 94 near 15 Freeway [San Diego, CA]

Fiery Crash on Highway 94 in San Diego Kills One and Badly Injures Two Others

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 3, 2024) – A woman died in a fiery accident on Highway 94 in San Diego Saturday morning on December 23.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly before 8:50 a.m. near the 15 Freeway connector. According to the CHP, a Mini Cooper was heading westbound on Highway when it veered off the roadway and struck a concrete wall. It then veered to the right, striking another concrete wall and launching off the freeway transition.
 
While airborne, the Mini Cooper struck a CalTrans exit sign and landed onto the roof of a 2015 Nissan Murano heading westbound on Highway 94.
 
Both vehicles burst into flames from the impact.
 
Debris from the Nissan then struck a 2020 Hyundai Accent.
 
The female driver of the Mini Cooper died upon impact.
 
Paramedics rushed both driver and passenger of the Nissan to a hospital with major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai was unharmed.
 
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. A toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. Further investigation is underway.
